Post-doctoral Fellowship in Molecular Oncology

One two-year post-doctoral position is available to join the Leukemia & Lymphoma group of Prof. Maria Teresa Scupoli and Prof. Carlo Visco, Dept. of Engineering for Innovation Medicine (DIMI), University of Verona.

The project is funded by European Union (Next Generation EU – PNRR: M6/C2_CALL 2023) and aims at developing a comprehensive map of signaling network integrated with molecular signature in mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), allowing the generation of a prognostic/predictive platform for guiding therapeutic choices. MCL is a rare hematologic tumor with an aggressive clinical course. Despite novel targeted therapeutic strategies contribute to better outcomes, treatment results are poor in a proportion of high-risk (HR) patients. Therefore, developing a novel prognostic/predictive model to stratify HR patients for treatment failure is a current unmet need for MCL. Our laboratory has recently identified a signaling signature associated with a more aggressive clinical behavior (Gambino et al, Sc. Rep. 2023), thus providing the rationale for investigating the mutational and transcriptomic landscape in signaling-based sample clusters.

Selected candidate will work at the characterization of the molecular mechanisms and oncogenic signaling pathways underlying biological heterogeneity of MCL.

We are looking for a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher, with passionate interest in cancer cell biology and a proactive collaborative attitude. Previous experience in experimental hematology and technical skills in molecular and cellular biology and flow cytometry would be appreciated but are not mandatory. Starting date: 1st September 2024.

Environment: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Lab is located at the Research Center LURM at University of Verona, comprising 3,000 sqm laboratories equipped for cell cultures, molecular biology, flow cytometry. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Lab offers a highly stimulating, interdisciplinary environment thanks to the collaboration between biologists and hematologists with consolidate experience. Moreover, the team has access to cutting-edge facilities of the University of Verona.
